"Tea Leaf Dancers” is the second of three singles taken from the forthcoming new Emanative & Liz Elensky album “The Volume Of The Light”, to be released on Home Planet on Jan 22nd (Ltd edition vinyl & digital).

Producer & drummer Emanative and vocalist Liz Elensky conjure up a fresh and original take on one of their Flying Lotus favourites.

Subtle spacey samba influences meet hip hop and electronics. Hauntingly beautiful vocals orbit brazil, floating above live drums alongside programmed beats and not to mention synth & percussive contributions from good friend and Emanative percussionist: Vince Vella illuminating the celebrations down below.

As well as producing, V V also studied in Cuba and Brazil, and has a deep knowledge of these rhythms. He has worked with an impressive list of Cuban artists, co-produced Gilles Peterson's Havana Cultura series and remixed the likes of The Comet Is Coming and 4 Hero. This made him the perfect choice as a collaborator for this slightly different version of Fly Lo’s “Tea Leaf Dancers”.

Vince has contributed to several other Emanative productions, most recently lending additional hypnotic synth for Nick's remix of Sarathy Korwar’s “Birthright”.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
